It’s here! It’s here! It is finally here!
Football season has started once again. This is my all-time ultimate favorite time of year and the sadness that breaks my heart every January when football season is over is finally eradicated with the impending new season ready to start. Now I do love professional NFL football but my heart truly remains loyal to the college teams. I absolutely love my college football games and it is a standing rule in this house that no matter what may be happening, if it is happening on a Saturday between August and January there is a good chance A) I will not answer my phone B) I will not show up to your event and C) I will also probably not be getting off the couch to cook dinner either. Call me a bad person but sitting and watching my football games all day long on a Saturday uninterrupted is my personal reward for being an awesome human being (most days) for the whole other rest of the year.
All that being said, it’s impossible to watch football and not need munchies. Munchies are just as important to game day as the actual football itself. I don’t care if it’s Loaded Potato Skins or Philly Cheese Steak Dip or my famous Spicy Crockpot Meatballs, there had better be food on that side table to munch on and it’s almost a requirement that also not be healthy. I know, people will argue with me on this point and I am not saying that they are not right and I am not saying that I am not wrong but I think for game day, you can go ahead and forget about counting calories, fat and carbs and just enjoy the fattening (delicious) food the way you are meant to. #yogapants
At least that’s what I tell myself .. haha!
A long time staple in to our Saturday afternoon food parade has been a steaming hot pan of chili cheese dip, served up with either corn chips or nacho chips and it’s probably the very first game day recipe I ever made, so in my world it is a classic. Unfortunately, the downfall to any good cheese dip is there will always be an occasion when you’re going in for a huge scoop of dip, perfectly paired up with your crunchy nacho chip … and what happens?
The chip breaks!
That is absolutely the worst feeling when it happens, I don’t care WHO you are. You know you had that bite of dip completely lined up perfectly … the perfect portion, the perfect ratio of chili, cheese cream and ooey gooey cheese and when that chip breaks, the whole bite is ruined. Now, the only alternative you have is either go back n with the nubbie of the chip remaining in your hands (never works!) or you had to go get a new chip and try again and that’s a 50-50 chance it’s going to work or not. These are not problems that are necessarily plauging the Universe but these are issues that are important to prepare for when it comes to game day binging experiences.
So then my question is… how to avoid this?
(Insert AHA moment!)
Why not take the cream cheese and the chili and the ooey gooey cheese and pack it all into its own individual little nacho chip carrying vessel? Chili Cheese Dip Bites!!! By doing this you completely remove the possibility of party foul chip breakage. Plus they are so cute!!! #cutefoodrules
There’s nothing sadder than broken chips when it comes to chili cheese dip.
Happiness and Blessings!
