These Slow Cooker Ribs are moist, succulent and perfect! The best new way to cook ribs .. great juicy flavor and with half the work!
There are just certain things you do not mess with. Texas is apparently one of the things you do not mess with .. um … your eyelashes for the first 13 hours after you put mascara on them (you KNOW no matter how long you wait to pull that one random wonky sideways lash off, that mascara is ALWAYS still wet) … and the last thing you don’t mess with is BBQ RIBS.
You grill them or you smoke them, feel free to pick either but other than that you do not deviate from the Master Plan of BBQ Law. Grill or Smoke, Smoke or Grill … yep, that about covers it. Now, as I have talked about before, I am terrified of even attempting to start my own grill. I know I have the instructions, I am surrounded by big strong Southern men who would be more than happy to show this girl what to do but … no shot. I am a rule breaker and a BBQ rebel and I am happy to do my ribs in my oven. And this is the part where I say point out that my oven ribs are amazing! My Spicy Asian BBQ Ribs couldn’t be juicier or more flavorful. That’s a fact!!! Check them out and you will not be disappointed!!
But this time I am trying something different. Anyone who has been on Pinterest has seen pins dedicated to slow cooker ribs. Let’s be honest, there is pretty much a recipe to do everything and anything in a slow cooker these days and I for one, I’m a happy, happy girl for this.
But ribs in the slow cooker?
There’s something that seems so right yet so wrong about this. Where is the char, where is the blackened ends. Ribs in the slow cooker? What?
So I had to try them. I grabbed my rack of ribs, I rubbed it down with my favorite rib rub and with much concern and trepidation, I stuffed those bad boys in that slow cooker on low and would you believe what I found 7 hours later? Ribs cooked to perfection! Perfection in that they were juicy and they were pulled away from the bone and best of all, they were next to no work.
In a time when we are rushing here and rushing there and are too busy to move our life forward, so many of us do not have time to dedicate large amounts of our days to putting out amazing meals. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but that is called the reality of our lives these days. Now if there is a flavorful, delicious recipe that calls for me to simply put my ingredients in a pot, turn the dial and come back in 8 hours and dinner is done, I have to say I am all for that plan!
Now what about the char, the crispy ends, what what do we do about that, you ask? That part is simple … remove the ribs from your slow cooker, lay them out on a sheet pan and brush them down with your favorite barbecue sauce. In the meantime, put your oven on broil and once you’re broiler is ready slide that she pan directly under those coils for anywhere from 3 to 5 minutes. Keep a close eye on them because we all know the minute you blink or turn around that broiler is going to kick into overdrive and completely burn whatever you have right underneath it. Don’t let that happen to these ribs. These ribs are golden! It’s like holding onto the Golden ticket to the Willie Wonka chocolate Factory except there is no chocolate ..there is only barbecue ribs and these ribs are phenomenal. Trust me!
