This spicy, tangy Sriracha Lime Steak Marinade packs a huge punch and will take your steak to the next level of greatness.
People are notorious creatures of habit and as my husband will inform you (with eyes rolling) if we are going to a new restaurant and there is a steak sandwich on the menu, this girl has her order ready. I absolutely love french dips and philly cheesesteaks.. minus all the vegetable and the au jus (wet bread issues), just bring me a big beautiful bread roll piled high with steak and ooey gooey cheese and there is nothing that will make me happier. Keep your pasta dishes and your chicken salad croissant sandwiches… Bread. Steak. Cheese.
Now anyone who has made steak sandwiches at home knows, it’s very easy to end up with bland tasting meat, no matter how much you season it. If you are not committed to the slow roast, your steak can easily end up dry or worse yet.. flavorless and tough from overcooking. And then the tears fall…
One way I have found to combat these sandwich killers is the secret ingredient .. steak marinade. Plain and simple? Heck no!! If we are going to fuse in moisture and flavor, let’s go big! … let’s go big and bad! .. let’s go SPICY!!!!
Yes, yes.. i know .. we are completely off track from the traditional steak sandwich recipe we were just raving about. That’s alright, it’s ok to try new things, remember?
This marinade is quick and easy and it also happens to be my favorite chicken marinade, as well. Cilantro Lime Chicken Wraps are served up in my house almost weekly (um.. yes, they are THAT good) and when I was in search of something different to spice up my steak sandwich, this spicy lime marinade was the first to come to mind and with just a few changes to the original recipe, a whole new level of steak deliciousness was born!
Combine all of the ingredients together in a large zip top storage bag, add in your meat and let it marinate in your refrigerator overnight…. or if you are like me and forget it … two nights. The flavor will intensify the longer you let it set and believe me, this marinade packs a punch! Served hot or cold, you will never look at plain steak sandwiches the same way after tyring this spicy alternative and if you really want to take it to the next level, add on some Jalapeno Chimichurri Sauce.
Now you have a party!
