Pink Sugar Cookies
Pink Sugar Cookies are the easiest soft baked sugar cookies you will ever make. These chewy and delicious sugar cookies are crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, sprinkled with white chocolate chips and are the perfect pink cookies for Valentine’s Day or ANY day.
Before I even talk about pink sugar cookies, let me explain my current situation.
Its THAT time again!! You know what I mean. The stores are packed with pink roses and heart balloons and mountains of stuffed animals holding little fabrics hearts that say Love You or Be Mine.
Valentine’s Day hype is everywhere!! Even Pepto Bismal seems offensive right now!
It’s unavoidable and even this Queen of Halloween cannot escape this one holiday. See, Big Scary Mike and I have never bought into the Valentines Day hype, it just never seemed necessary to us.
We are happy and we are solid. We do nice things for each other like start the clothes drier when the other one forgets to and we are mindful of taking the last cheese stick from the pack.
Real Life!
But if there is one thing that does get celebrated in our house, it’s the mindset that Food is Love.
When you can make a special dish or a treat for someone and you take your time to show that person you appreciate them, that’s the best thing you will have cooked all week.
So this Valentine’s Day, I wanted to write a recipe that could be quick and easy that anyone could pull off to show the people important to them that they matter.
What kind of cookies does everyone love? Sugar cookies! How can we make them special? MAKE THEM PINK! How can we make them pretty? Add in white chocolate chips.
Done!!
WHY THESE PINK COOKIES ARE THE BEST
- The cookies are pink. The End!
- This is a recipe you don’t need to be experienced or kitchen savvy to be able to pull off and a recipe anyone and everyone would appreciate and enjoy.
- Pink sugar cookies are delicious, crisp on the outside while being sinfully sweet and soft on the inside.
- If you don’t like white chocolate, leave the chips out. No judgement.
- These sugar cookies are also perfect for Spring, Easter and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
- I mean really … what’s better than soft baked sugar cookies??? (Answer: Nothing!)
To make these sugar cookies, you will need:
- Sugar
- Butter
- Eggs
- Vanilla
- Baking soda
- All purpose flour
- Salt
- Pink gel food coloring
- White chocolate chips
HOW DO YOU MAKE PINK COOKIES
These Pink Sugar Cookies are super easy to make and take no time at all to bring together. Start by lining a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Cream together your sugar and butter in a large mixing bowl and then add in eggs and vanilla.
Then in a separate bowl, combine your flour, baking soda and salt and then slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into your sugar batter.
Mix in your pink food coloring then stir in your white chocolate chips. Refrigerate your dough for 30 minutes. Once chilled, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Spoon out enough dough to make a 1 1/2 inch ball and once formed, place on your baking sheet, leaving 2 inches of space in between each cookie.
Once your baking sheet is filled, bake for 12-13 minutes. Let cool on the baking sheet for 1 minute before moving to a rack to cool completely.
PRO TIPS FOR PERFECT PINK COOKIES
- Always take the time to refrigerate the soft sugar cookie dough. If you skip this step, the sugar cookies will flatten a bit and not keep their shape as well.
- When using food coloring, always go a bit darker than you actually want. The color will lighten a bit as the soft sugar cookies will bake.
- If you don’t already have a ‘jelly roll’ pan, consider investing in one. They are not too expensive (I think mine were $14.99 each) and since they are larger than the standard baking sheet, you can bake twice the amount of cookies in the same amount of time. Serious game changer come holiday season!!!
- If you don’t like white chocolate, leave the chips out. No judgement.
- Customize these soft sugar cookies for any occasion you may need … just replace the pink food coloring with whatever color you prefer. Want to go naked? Omit the food coloring altogether for perfect plain homemade soft sugar cookies.
- Pink food coloring can be found in most grocery or big box stores and of course, online. If you are unable to grab any, use red food coloring but add just a tiny bit to tint your batter pink.
WHAT IS THE SECRET TO PERFECT SUGAR COOKIES
The secret to making the perfect homemade cookies is refrigerating the dough.
When I first did my recipe for sugar cookies, I didn’t refrigerate my dough and I couldn’t figure out why my sugar cookies flattened out and wouldn’t hold their shape.
After a bit of research, I remade my homemade sugar cookies but refrigerated the dough first and WOW .. what a difference. Chilling your dough helps keep your cookies from spreading.
Always remember to refrigerate your cookie dough and you will be rewarded with perfect soft sugar cookies every time.
