My name is Heather and I am the happy (and very tired!) Momma of three boxers … Nova, Haley and Ziva aka The Baby and a big ole hooch dog named Porkchop. My day job consists of doing full-time medical collections for a large, nationwide hospital corporation and when I am not chained to my cubicle, the rest of my life is dedicated to my husband and my pack of pups.
Somewhere in all of this, I also try to find time to pursue the interests that make me, ME. I am an avid Halloween junkie and I have just started delving into the world of prop building… apparently, the #1 rule to that is if it’s not messy and taking over your entire kitchen.. you’re doing it wrong. Lesson learned. We also just bought our first house and while it is my dream home, it needs a lot of love to bring it around to what my husband … by the way, his name is Mike … and I envision the house to become. Bring on the DIY remodel page!! After all, what could possibly go wrong… right? Believe me, I am already thanking God that my nephews know about rewiring and electricity because I can promise you… things would go VERY wrong indeed if I tried to take on THAT task. You’ve just met me but believe me, I’ve seen what I’m capable of…. and so has the local fire department.
I am also an amateur photographer, a lover of good food, a die-hard Florida State Seminoles fan and a firm believer that the world stops making sense for seven months of the year when there is no football to be watched . Finally, September rolls around and there is screaming and trash talking and fighting with family members and all is right in the world, once again (deep breath!.. I survived yet another summer of Supernatural reruns and Netflix). But forgive me, I digress…
As a girl with many different interests, I find that if you don’t make time for yourself, you lose some of your sparkle. Most of us serve our time working 40+ hours a week only to then have to rush to pick up the kids and then go to the grocery story and did you remember to start the laundry? and what’s for dinner? and how does one puppy need to go outside and pee 18 times every night??? Where in all of that chaos do you wedge in your love for reading bad novels or learn how to make really bad paintings in a local art class or try your hand at learning to speak Cantonese? You don’t. Sometimes, it becomes so necessary to do whats expected of you that you forget to take the time for yourself, to find what makes YOU happy. I am very lucky to have a husband who encourages me to run away from home one day a week with nothing but my camera and a full tank of gas, to follow my heart and explore the world as I see fit… providing I bring home pizza when I finally find my way back. I can handle that.
This blog is my way of bringing together all of the things I love most and celebrate the freedom of individual creativity. I look forward to sharing my adventures with YOU… Thanks for coming along for the ride!!
